In The Community
We are proud to be a part of the East Gwillimbury community. Our community provides our clinic family the opportunity to be a part of your pets and your family’s lives. It gives us great joy to be able to give back at any opportunity that we can, be it in a parade, help organize events for Sport’s Day Weekend, or sponsor our local hockey teams. We are honoured to be able to support you when we can.
What have we done?
Dr. Angela is proud to be a part of the Mount Albert Sport’s Day committee which organizes the Pet Contest every year. The kids in the community love participating in the contest, as they have the chance to show off how amazing their pets are! Of course, Dr. Angela does not do this alone — she has a great team of volunteers which help her put this show on. Thanks to so many wonderful businesses in our township and region who annually sponsor this event to make it a great success each year!
Sponsorships
Club Sponsorship is important to Dr. Angela, as she understands the importance of activities which provide memorable moments in a child’s life. Extracurricular activities provide kids with lifelong skills including a sense of responsibility, the importance of working as a team, and most of all, the importance of having fun!
Since 2016, EGVH has sponsored the East Gwillimbury Eagles Hockey Club, the Figure Skating club and the York Region 4-H Club.
Santa Claus Parade
The Mount Albert Santa Claus Parade hosted by the Mount Albert Lion’s Club is a yearly favorite of our clinic! Tricia, Chelsea, and Sara always bring their 4 -legged family members, while Kathleen, Angela and her step-daughter Paige try to give out as much candy as they can to all the kids, big and small, along the route! Although the last one Dr. Angela was caught marching in the parade with her baton in hand! A sport that she has loved since she was 5 years old.Halloween
Halloween is a favorite time at the EGVH! We love to decorate the inside and outside of the clinic every year. We try to make it fun for the kids on the school buses who drive by through the week to hopefully make them smile at the start of their day. The staff also dress up each year and there is always a theme! One of the favorites so far was our Guardians of the Pet Galaxy a few years ago. Check out our Facebook Pictures if you would like to check it out.
Community Veterinary Outreach
In 2015, Dr. Angela had a shared passion and vision to help improve the health of pets of the homeless and vulnerably-housed. It was equally important to help ease the strain of looking after their pets while going through life’s difficult struggles. With the help and expertise of Christine Johnson-Stewart, SSW, the late Chandra Newman, Martha Berry, SSW from Inn From the Cold and Mary Ann Proulx, BA, from LOFT Outreach, the Community Veterinary Outreach of York Region was proudly established.
